Postdoc Position at University of Cambridge

University of Cambridge has an opening postdoctoral researcher position. The funding allows successful candidates to work for 2 years in the first instance. The deadline to apply is March 21, 2019.

The Research For Equitable Access and Learning (REAL) Centre in the Faculty of Education at the University of Cambridge wishes to appoint a full-time Research Associate to work on a large scale international project “Raising Learning Outcomes for All through Education System Research in Ethiopia” funded under the Research on Improving Systems of Education (RISE) programme. The research aims to understand, evaluate and inform the design and implementation of the Government of Ethiopia’s nationwide General Education Quality Improvement Package (GEQIP-E).

The postholder is expected to fully engage with the research activities of this large-scale grant. In particular, they will be responsible for supporting the quantitative research needs of the project, with particular emphasis on the analysis of existing secondary data, and design and analysis of an on-going longitudinal study. The postholder is expected to work collaboratively with both Ethiopian and international research partners, and to travel to Ethiopia for research purposes.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in Education, Economics, Development Studies or other relevant discipline that uses quantitative methods and mixed methods. Applicants must have experience in statistical data preparation and analysis, including experience of software packages, with a strong understanding of statistical methods and modelling, and the ability to prepare graphs from this analysis. Evidence of strong knowledge of mixed research methods, and experience of drafting high quality publications are highly desirable. Knowledge and/or experience specific to Ethiopia, or related geographical regions, would be advantageous. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with a range of stakeholders are essential.
