We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant who will be involved in major research projects as directed by Professor Justin Cobb, Professor George Hanna, and Dr Stella Mavroveli. You will be working in a group of clinicians and scientists, to undertake research for patient benefit mainly within the field of orthopaedic surgery.

This is an excellent opportunity for you if you have an interest in research and would like to expand your skills and knowledge in applied psychology (psychology scholarships) research.

Key responsibilities in this role will include collecting and analysing qualitative and quantitative data, along with preparing materials for submission to granting agencies and foundations. You will also have the opportunity to attend area seminars and other meetings as necessary.

A degree in psychology or equivalent is essential, as is registration with the British Psychological Society. You should have experience with questionnaire administration and interviews. It is essential to this role that you have experience of working or conducting research within a clinical setting and having advanced skills in statistical and software packages (eg: PASW, NVivo, Atlat-ti) is highly desirable.

As this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, at the appropriate level, will be required for the successful candidate.
