Postdoc in Sulfur and Chlorine Chemistry in Mineral-based High Temperature Processes

Technical University of Denmark has an opening postdoctoral fellowship position in sustainable development. Applications are welcome before July 16, 2020.

A two-year postdoc (postdoc scholarships) position on sulfur and chlorine chemistry in mineral-based industrial high temperature processes is available at the CHEC Research Centre, DTU Chemical Engineering. The position is part of the ProBu – Process Technology for Sustainable Building Materials Production project in collaboration with FLSmidth and Rockwool.

In both cement production process and melting cyclone-based stone wool production process, the sulfur and chlorine in the fuel and raw materials induce challenges, such as emissions of SO and HCl, and formation of unwanted deposits. To address these challenges and to develop effective technical solutions, improved understanding of the behavior of sulfur and chlorine in these processes, and reliable experimental and modelling tools are desirable. Responsibilities and tasks The objectives of the postdoc project are to advance the current understanding of the sulfur, chlorine and alkali behavior in cement production and melting cyclone-based stone wool production processes, and to develop experimental and modelling tools for evaluating and addressing the related challenges.
