PhD Scholarship in Business Administration Especially Marketing at Stockholm University

Stockholm University is delighted to offer a PhD position in social sciences. The funding allows successful candidate to work for four years. Applications are welcome before August 31, 2020.

Stockholm Business School is one of the biggest departments at the Faculty of Social Sciences (Social Sciences scholarships) with about 180 employees and 3,500 students. The teaching and research focus on accounting, finance, management, and marketing.

The position will be associated with the Section of Marketing. Faculty members within the section conduct research and teaching within a broad set of areas under the general umbrella term of marketing. The PhD candidate will be connected to The Swedish National Research School of Management and IT (www.mit.uu.se/om-forskarskolan-mit/), and is expected to focus on digital marketing, specifically how digital platforms influence marketing (marketing scholarships) practices and shape interactions between market actors and their economic, social and ecological environment.

In order to meet the general entry requirements, the applicant must have completed a second-cycle degree, completed courses equivalent to at least 240 higher education credits, of which 60 credits must be in the second cycle, or have otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge in Sweden (fully funded Sweden scholarships) or elsewhere.

In order to meet the specific entry requirements, applicants must also have completed courses in the field of Business Administration, or equivalent, comprising at least 90 credits, including an independent degree project of at least 15 credits.

The selection among the eligible candidates will be based on their capacity to benefit from the training. The following criteria will be used to assess this capacity: the candidates' documented knowledge in a relevant field of research, written and oral proficiency in both Swedish and English, the capacity for analytical thinking, the ability to collaborate, as well as creativity, initiative, and independence. The assessment will be based on previous experience and grades, the quality of the degree project, references, relevant experience, interviews, and the candidate's written motivation for seeking the position.

The term of the initial contract may not exceed one year. The employment may be extended for a maximum of two years at a time. However, the total period of employment may not exceed the equivalent of four years of full-time study.

Doctoral students should primarily devote themselves to their own education, but may engage in teaching and administration corresponding to a maximum of 20 % of a full-time position.
