Applications are invited for a Research Associate in infection, inflammation, diet and the microbiome to join the Department of Life Sciences at Imperial College London. You will be joining Professor Frankel's Group based in the MRC Centre for Bacteriology Microbiology and Infection (CMBI), located in the Flowers Building, South Kensington Campus. The CMBI is a centre of excellence housing several groups studying bacterial pathogenesis, secretion systems, virulence and colonisation factors, gene expression, bacterial cell walls, toxins and biofilms.

Enteric bacterial infections and inflammation are intimately linked with metabolism and the microbiome. Recent studies illustrated the fluidity of the pathogenic state, which could be tilted towards commensalism by changes to diet and the composition of the microbiota. Successful candidates will use the natural mouse pathogen Citrobacter rodentium (wild type and Stx+) to model infections with enteropathogenic and enterohaemorrhagic E. coli (Cell Metabol. 26 (2017), 738-752.e6; Cell Reports 20 (2017), 2201-2214).

*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as a Research Assistant within the salary range 35,477 – 38,566 per annum.
