Research Fellow at University of Surrey

University of Surrey is delighted to offer a postdoctoral associate position in signal processing. This position is available for two years in the first instance. Applications will be evaluated on a continuous basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Research Fellow to be part of the recently awarded Leverhulme Trust project in collaboration with Warwick University. The suitable candidate will develop a novel non-destructive evaluation (NDE) method for the detection of micro-cracks and early stage material damage in composite components. In this project, a combination of air coupled transducers and thermography will provide fast and contactless inspection of large areas and complex geometries.

Applicants should hold a PhD in a relevant discipline and have a full and working knowledge of designing and fabricating experimental components (such as transducers, test-rigs and test-pieces), ultrasound, infrared thermography, signal processing (signal processing scholarships) and excellent experimental skills. Experience in numerical analysis (NASTRAN, Abaqus, ANSYS, LS-Dyna, Comsol, etc) is an advantage.

The post is full time and is being offered on a fixed term contract basis for two years and must start 1st June 2020. Under the agreement of this joint project, it is mandatory that the successful candidate will spend the first year at Warwick University and the second year at Surrey University. It is anticipated that interviews for this role will take place in the middle of May 2020.
