Postdoc Position in Atomic Scale Modelling of Un Fuel at Imperial College London

Imperial College London is offering postdoctoral position. Eligible candidates should submit the applications before May 05, 2020.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on an EPSRC programme grant on Accident Tolerant fuels in recycle (ATLANTIC) that was awarded to Leeds University in partnership with Imperial College London and 10 other universities. Your role will be to develop cutting edge models using density functional theory (DFT) of defect structures for non-stoichiometry and surfaces in uranium nitride (UN). To be able to relate these structure models to key properties of UN. Also, to determine differences between previous empirical model predictions, with those of DFT, and to help other PDRAs in ATLANTIC in the interpretation of their experimental results by developing mechanistic models. Furthermore, it is expected there will be strong collaborations with other modelling PDRAs, within ATLANTIC, by providing data e.g. for the modelling of how UN interacts with water.

*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range 35,477- 38,566 per annum.
