Postdoc Position at University of Cambridge

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral scholar position in medical sciences to join University of Cambridge. The initial contract for this position is 3 years. Candidates are welcome before February 02, 2020.

Applications are invited to recruit an enthusiastic post-doctoral scientist to work on a Wellcome Trust project in the group of Dr James Nathan. We employ an integrated approach, using biochemistry, cell biology, and CRISPR genetic screens, to understand how oxygen sensing pathways interact with mitochondria and nutrient sensing. The project will focus on the role of newly identified enzymes that regulate metabolite abundance and cell fate decisions. The work will be pursued in the Cambridge Institute of Therapeutic Immunology and Infectious Disease (CITIID). This brand new building, with state-of-the-art facilities, is housed on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus alongside the Cambridge Stem Cell Institute.

Recent publications related to this project include: Miles, Burr et al. (2017) Elife and Burr et al. (2016) Cell Metabolism.

Candidates must have relevant research experience in mitochondrial function metabolism, or oxygen sensing. A PhD in the biological, biochemical or biomedical sciences is essential. Relevant experience in CRISPR gene editing, mitochondrial function, and primary cell culture would be beneficial.

Applicants will be expected to work closely and interactively with colleagues in different disciplines within the lab, have good communications skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Informal enquiries can be sent to Dr James Nathan ( @JamesNathanLab
