PhD Studentship in Metal-organic Framework Chemistry

Applications are invited for a PhD position to join The University of Nottingham. This position is available for 5 years. The deadline to apply is January 31, 2020.

We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic PhD student in the School of Chemistry at the University of Nottingham within the research group of Prof. Neil Champness. The successful candidate will work as part of an EPSRC-funded research programme entitled "Complex-bearing Metal-Organic Frameworks: Snapshots of Reactions". The projects constitute part of a programme of research using metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) as supports for reaction processes.

The successful candidates will investigate the synthesis of novel MOFs which are capable of binding metal-complexes within, and supported by, the framework structure. Reactions at the supported complexes will be investigated, primarily using single crystal X-ray diffraction, to provide insight into the pathways of reaction processes. The PhD studentship will be based in the School of Chemistry at Nottingham, but the successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate fully with the other partners in the research programme, including collaborators at the University of Adelaide, University of Bern and University of Texas at Austin.

Funding for this position is only open to UK/EU citizens and the 3.5 years studentship will commence in October 2020.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Prof. Neil R. Champness, Email: note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
