Unitech Secretary General Position at Chalmers University of Technology

Job description: Secretary General

The Secretary General is the senior member of staff at UNITECH and is responsible to the

Board of Directors for all aspects of the Society's business. (S)he is the first point of contact

for both Corporate Partners and Academic Partners with UNITECH and oversees the

management and day-to-day running of the Society.

Job purpose

To work with a wide group of stakeholders to ensure that the ambitions set out in the

UNITECH Strategy are achieved.

To lead the implementation and further development of the UNITECH programme and

ensure that maximum benefit is obtained from those students, Corporate Partners and

Academic Partners that engage with it.

Job duties

- To provide leadership for the activities of UNITECH.

- To pursue excellence in the programme(s) run by UNITECH on behalf of all


- To play a lead role in the development and communication of UNITECH activities.

- To lead and participate in internal and external networks that support the development of

UNITECH, including the recruitment of new Corporate Partners.

- To monitor the external environment and ensure that all of those involved in UNITECH

benefit from their involvement in the Society.

- To act as Secretary to the Society Board in support of good governance.

- To prepare management accounts for the Board, working with the Society Treasurer,

external accountants and auditors to ensure good financial practices.

- To secure funding from Corporate Partners and elsewhere that ensures the sustainability

of UNITECH International.

- To organise, attend and contribute to UNITECH meetings and conferences.

- To be responsible for the design and content of the UNITECH student programme,

ensuring that it is up-to-date and meets the needs of Academic and Corporate Partners.

- To initiate and lead engagement with new companies and businesses that are likely to

become Corporate Partners.

Related activities and functions

- To line-manage, appraise and advise UNITECH staff on personal and career

development plans.

- To work effectively with relevant people involved in the governance and management of

UNITECH, in particular Board members.

- To carry out specific administrative roles and functions as may be reasonably required.

- To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably requested and that are

commensurate with the nature of the post.
