- lead a research program in mathematical statistics with emphasis on data science, having potential for future beneficial societal impact,

- demonstrate a strong commitment to teach various courses in mathematical statistics,

- demonstrate a strong commitment to supervise students (at undergraduate, MSc and PhD levels),

- undertake administrative tasks at the Department of Mathematical Sciences.

You should actively seek challenges and new opportunities in order to develop your work. The bachelor’s level teaching is normally in Swedish, although the teaching at the master’s and PhD levels is in English. Thus, good language skills and ability to teach in English are required.

Assessment

The assessment of your application will be based on your scientific skills and pedagogical merits. Both parts will be equally important for the final assessment.

When assessing your scientific proficiency, special attention is paid to your competence documented by publications of high quality. Quality is more important than quantity. Research with important contributions after your PhD degree as well as international scientific collaboration are considered as strong merits.

When assessing your pedagogical merits, special emphasis is placed on your ability to plan and teach courses in mathematical statistics.

We will choose the applicant who, after the overall assessment of skills and potential to develop, is considered to have the best prerequisites to carry out the tasks included in the job description, to collaborate with other people, and to contribute to a positive development of the activities at the department. It will also be included in the overall assessment how the applicant’s qualifications and plans complement and strengthen the activities in accordance with the strategy of the department.

Previous leave of absence due to illness, parental leave or other similar circumstances will be taken into account in the assessment and should be pointed out in connection with the list of merits and experience.
