Collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment on the design, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of epidemiologic research. Participate in scholarly activities in the Center for Social Epidemiology & Population Health
Prepare written and oral presentations of epidemiologic research through writing research articles and team presentations
Participate in, and present at, local and national meetings and conferences
A doctoral degree in epidemiology, health behavior, health policy, statistics, health economics, or a related field, with strong quantitative skills. A track record of peer-reviewed publication of scholarly work related to PhD thesis, or in process, is required.
Individual must be highly sensitive to human subjects and confidential data. Must be capable of a high level of independent work and have the demonstrated ability to manage large research projects. Strong proficiency in Stata (preferred), SAS, and/or R, and demonstrated aptitude for learning new software. Working knowledge of MS Office, including Excel and Access. Solid knowledge of research principles, and commitment to responsible conduct of research and ethics. Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to convey technical information to a multidisciplinary team. Must possess a strong organizational skill-set with an emphasis on attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to prioritize and organize multiple projects simultaneously.
Desired areas of expertise include: complex survey data, multilevel and longitudinal data structures, and advanced use of statistical software (Stata, SAS, R). It is also desirable for the applicant to have interest and expertise in the field of tobacco control or other related substance abuse disorders. Analytic experience with the Population Assessment of Tobacco & Health (PATH) study is a plus.
The Research Fellow position is appointed in one-year increments with renewal possible depending on performance/productivity and the availability of funding.
