We are now recruiting a research assistant to the group. As a research assistant you will be contributing to the unit of Data Science Research Engineers in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, and you will be working in direct contact with one or more research projects within Chalmers. As a group we also work together with the new AI initiatives at Chalmers (CHAIR).

The aim is to develop and implement new research data analysis in existing platforms or in some cases develop a data analysis pipeline from the ground up.

The competencies sought are specifically machine learning and statistics applied to large and complex data sets, but you are also expected to have the capacity to learn and apply tools and methods from a range of other data science related areas, e.g., data mining, information visualization, and to think critically about when methods apply and not. This is done together with a team of research engineers with similar roles. We collaborate internally as well as with research groups to discuss, implement, evaluate, and communicate our results.

The employment has a period for 7 months full-time, working in a team on a research project. You will be located together with the rest of the group at the Computer Science and Engineering Department.

A minimum of Master-level education in computer science, mathematics or mathematical statistics is expected, but other educational backgrounds may be suitable depending on the specific skills and experience of the applicant. Documented experience in previously applying some of the skills outlined above, as well as software development in general is expected and proficiency in programming and scripting languages needs to demonstrated.
