Professor of Psychology at Open University

As Professor in the School of Psychology & Counselling you will join the research leadership team in an exciting period of expansion. You will assist with the ongoing development of our active research culture, the establishment of a newly approved Research Centre and the expansion of our successful undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum.

We are seeking to appoint two professors who combine excellent research leadership in psychology with a commitment to collaborative working. We welcome applications from outstanding academics specialising in any area of psychology which complements and enhances existing research strengths in the School.

The successful candidates will combine a wide breadth of knowledge across core domains in psychology with a critical and/or applied understanding that parallels ongoing research in the School. They will combine academic leadership with a commitment to Open University values and working collaboratively in teams and possess a clear vision of how their research will fit with that of the School, strengthen the Centre and contribute to The Open University's unique mission.

The successful candidates will contribute fully to the work of the School and Faculty, as well as providing leadership for, and support to, other colleagues. We are looking for applicants with an established international research reputation and an impressive record of publications. They will have a significant record of success in securing external funding and demonstrable achievements in supporting the development of colleagues.

The posts will be based at The Open University in Milton Keynes. We expect to make one appointment at Professor Band 1 SP/60 (67,732) and a second appointment up to Professor Band 3 PB3 SP/70 (94,758). For the first post, we welcome applicants at Senior Lecturer or Reader, or equivalent, who have achieved an appropriate level for promotion.
