Postdoc Position at University of Cambridge

University of Cambridge is offering postdoctoral scholar position in epidemiology. Candidates are welcome before January 07, 2020.

The Department of Psychiatry is looking for a post-doctoral Research Associate to join the team from 1 April 2020. The applicant will be a key part of a set of integrated studies of work exploring factors that influence and services / interventions to optimise child and adolescent mental health. We are particularly interested in someone with experience complex statistical analyses of large epidemiological datasets. The role of the successful applicants will be to work as a key part of a team of clinical and non-clinical researchers engaged in recruitment, screening and psychological, physical and physiological recording both in healthy young people and patient groups.

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health team is set to expand rapidly with an emphasis on applied epidemiology, as well as intervention development and evaluation. The successful applicant will be at a relatively junior level but will, over time, have the opportunity to play an active part in shaping this research programme and supporting more junior staff. We are particularly interested in someone with experience of research or practical work with children, young people or in schools.

The methods applied by the team include secondary analysis of large epidemiological datasets, mixed qualitative and quantitative observational studies, economic evaluation systematic reviews and randomized controlled trials. The research is inherently translational and multi-disciplinary, and involves strong links with psychology, paediatrics, education, epidemiology, trial specialists, statisticians, health economics and basic scientists.

Applicants will have a PhD in the above field.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 March 2022 in the first instance.

Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service check (enhanced with children and adults’ barred lists). This appointment also requires a Research Passport application.
