Postdoc Position at Imperial College London

A new opening postdoctoral position in water resources is available at Imperial College London, UK. The funding allows successful candidate to work for 18 months. The deadline for applying is January 06, 2020.

Applications are invited for a full-time researcher based jointly in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, and the Department of Earth Science and Engineering at Imperial College London to undertake and disseminate internationally leading research on the management of coastal aquifers and water resources through the development and application of unstructured adaptive mesh modelling techniques for density-dependent flow and solute transport in complex porous media. The work will be conducted under the supervision of Dr Adrian Butler and Prof. Matthew Jackson.

The advertised post is for a Research Associate (RA) to work on a new method for modelling the dynamics and geoelectric response of saline intrusion, which will be used to interpret and support the field and lab components of the work. The overall objective is to design an early warning system for saline intrusion into coastal abstraction wells using various physical and geophysical information. The post will also provide an opportunity to work with a multi-disciplinary team of researchers at ICL and QUB working on the dynamic simulation of flow in porous media and saline intrusion experiments.

The start date for this research post is TBC and the salary will be based on the level of relevant experience of the successful candidate.
