A new PhD position in pharmacy is available at The University of Nottingham. This position is available for 3 years. The deadline for applying is March 31, 2020.

The programme vision is to establish controlled next generation multifunctional AM and translate this to industry and researchers. Initially focussing on novel electronic and pharmaceutical/healthcare applications, the aim is to move beyond single material AM by exploiting the potential to deposit multiple materials contemporaneously for the delivery of spatially resolved function and structure in three dimensions.
Development of novel multifunctional materials is at the forefront of emerging technologies. Low dimensional materials offer opportunities for combining multiple properties in miniaturised structures. Recently two dimensional 2D sheets decorated with a layer of nanocrystals (0D) have attracted significant attention. These heterostructures exhibit interesting new phenomena and are considered as promising candidates for next generation of optoelectronic devices, as they can combine tuneable optical properties of 0D materials (quantum dots and perovskites) with unique electrical properties of 2D layers (graphene). However, up-scaling of the device processing and manufacturing remains challenging. The project will focus on development and studies of 0D and 2D inks for additive manufacturing of photosensitive devices. The overall aim is to develop up-scalable production of photon sensors with extended detection range.
The successful candidate will receive a full studentship (fees and stipend at UK/EU rates only) for 3 years.
Applicantsshould have, or expect to obtain, a 1st -class or 2:1 degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry or related discipline.
Please send your covering letter, CV and academic transcripts tocfam@nottingham.ac.uk referring to the project title. Please note applications without academic transcripts will not be considered.
The studentship advert will stay open until filled.
