Lecturer Masters of Biomedical Sciences at Monash University

TheMonash Biomedicine Discovery Institute (BDI) is one of the largest and most dynamic biomedical research and teaching environments in Australia. The Institute and its cognate Departments of Anatomy and Developmental Biology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Pharmacology and Physiology comprise over 120 research groups and deliver discipline-focused teaching into our flagship Bachelor of Biomedical Science Degree, the Bachelor of Science Degree, as well as the Medical School and various Health-related Degree Programs. We pride ourselves on an excellent and evolving teaching curriculum and provide world-class teaching and learning space for Biomedical Sciences.

This position is to grow and enhance the Masters of Biomedical and Health Sciences degree and to help train the students towards research achievement. This will be done principally through training students in critical data collection, analysis and communication skills in a laboratory context, and to operate as scientists. The academic will also work collaboratively and under direction with other Masters staff to train students in communication of data collection and analyses outcomes in the form of written reports.

The academic will work collaboratively and under direction with other Masters staff work to help students in the application of their laboratory skills to experimental designs. Working in close collaboration with other Masters staff and engaging with BDI, you'll take responsibility for the overall management and delivery of laboratory class units, ensuring high standards of teaching in biomedical sciences, using established and modern approaches, adherence to quality assurance standards, and an excellent student experience.

The Lecturer is also expected to undertake research in biomedical sciences. You will be committed to research that will compliment and support our research strategy and be prepared to work as part of multi-disciplinary teams, as well as developing your personal research activities. You will also be expected to promote and enhance inter-faculty collaboration for teaching and research in your chosen discipline across the BDI and the Monash Faculty of MNHS.

The successful applicant will have a demonstrated record of teaching or capacity to teach in the field of biomedical sciences in a tertiary environment. Experience instatistical analysis and manuscript preparation skills, including developing a solid track record of refereed research publications is also essential.

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
