We are seeking two full-time Postdoctoral Research Fellow in machine learning for healthcare applications. The successful applicants will join the Machine Learning for Healthcare Research Lab at the Centre for Vision, Speech and Signal Processing (CVSSP).

The post is part of the healthy home programme within the Imperial-Surrey Care Research and Technology Centre at the UK Dementia Research Institute (UK DRI) (https://www.imperial.ac.uk/uk-dri-care-research-technology/).

The centre aims to develop next-generation AI and healthcare technologies to support people affected by Dementia. The post is for a full-time researcher for 3 years (with the possibility of an extension for another 2 years due to funding), to start by 1 November 2019or soon after.

You will be responsible for research into machine learning, time-series data analysis and probabilistic models, with a particular focus on adaptive learning as well as developing solutions for processing Internet of Things and sensory data. You will also be involved in system integration, verification and validation and will work with the software development and clinical teams within the centre. The role will focus on developing novel AI and machine learning solutions as well as creating robust, reliable solutions to support real-world applications. The role will suit a highly motivated candidate who is interested in addressing real-world challenges and creating end-to-end solutions.

Our past research in this area has resulted in a software system with integrated machine learning algorithms (Class 1, medically certified system) which is currently being offered as a pilot service by the Surrey and Borders NHS Trust at the National Health Service (NHS) (this was the outcome of our TIHM for Dementia project). Our group's research has received several awards includingNew Health Tech Innovation of the Yearawardin the Health Tech DigitalAwards 2019, HSJ 2018Awardfor Improving Care with Technology and an NHS Regional ParliamentaryAward.

You should have a relevant PhD/DPhil (or be near completion), as well as holding a first degree in engineering, physics, computer science, mathematics, statistics or similar. Experience in software development and programming, as well as in practical applications of adaptive algorithms in working with uncertain data will be highly desirable.
