Research Assistant at University of Cambridge

Applicants are invited to apply for a postdoctoral scholar position in biochemistry at University of Cambridge. The deadline to apply is October 10, 2019.

A Research Assistant is required in this short term project in the laboratory of Professor Paul Dupree. The aim of the project is to characterise lignin carbohydrate complexes isolated from plant cell walls. Experience in Arabidopsis molecular genetics, cell wall analysis, solution NMR of carbohydrates, PACE and xylan analysis is essential. Experience in isolation of lignin carbohydrate complexes from Arabidopsis is an advantage.

The main duties will involve preparation and of lignin-carbohydrate complexes from cell walls. The post holder will prepare manuscripts for publication and present the results in the research group and at international collaborative meetings. The post holder will additionally supervise from time to time undergraduate and graduate students in conducting research into plant cell walls.

The successful candidates should hold a Degree (or be close to completion a PhD) in plant biochemistry or a related field.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 9 months in the first instance.
