Research Position in Biological Sciences at Nanyang Technological University

Nanyang Technological University is pleased to invite applicants to apply for a postdoctoral position in molecular biology. This position is open until filled.

Openings for three postdoctoral research fellow (RF) positions are now available in the School of Biological Science (SBS) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. The respective projects are part of a newly established National Research Foundation (NRF)-funded Competitive Research Program (CRP) and involves two laboratories in SBS and one in A*STAR.

One RF will work in the laboratory of the lead PI Prof Peter Drge on the development of a new platform for improved protein therapeutics (e.g. antibodies, factor VIII) produced by mammalian expression systems using our own propriety genome editing tool that is based on variants of phage lambda integrase. The work involves mammalian cell culturing, protein purification, biochemical assays, genome editing analysis and many standard molecular biology techniques. Proven work experience in these fields and a keen interest in biotechnology is a prerequisite.

Two RFs will work in the laboratory of team-PI Prof Oliver Mller-Cajar on a novel transgenesis platform for microalgae based on our propriety genome editing tool. Besides establishing the platform in marine microalgae, additional major aims of the project are (i) to utilize the microbial Rubisco sequence space towards enhanced CO2 assimilation and (ii) the production of oral fish vaccines in microalgae. The work involves algal culturing, extensive molecular biology (vector construction), flow cytometry, genome editing analysis, protein biochemistry and biochemical assays. A PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry or related work experience is required.

PhD with proven work experience in Molecular and Cell Biology in general and algal biology and mammalian cell culture techniques in particular.

To apply, please send your detailed CV, research statement and at least two academic referees to Prof Peter Drge at PDroge@ntu.edu.sg and Prof Oliver Mller-Cajar at cajar@ntu.edu.sg.

Please note that only shortlisted candidates would be notified.
