A new postdoc position in computer science is available at University of Cambridge. Candidates are welcome before September 29, 2019.

The successful candidate will be assisting in a project led by Prof Steve Oliver (https://www.sysbiol.cam.ac.uk/Investigators/steve-oliver) optimising the productivity and control of continuous fermentations for the generation of platform chemicals. The role will entail using metabolic modelling and flux balance analysis to design novel strains for molecular biologists to construct in order to optimise the production of platform chemicals. Another major activity will involve network minimisation to effect the channelling of metabolites to desired products.
We are seeking applicants who have proficiency in the use of C/C++, MATLAB, and R and who hold a Bachelor’s degree or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent level of practical experience. Applications should have experience of working with stoichiometric models of metabolism and in flux balance analysis. Experience of working with biologists and an interest in the optimisation and minimisation of metabolic pathways is highly desirable.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 July 2020 in the first instance.
