University of Ghent is offering PhD position in mechanical engineering. The funds for this position are available for 2 years. The deadline to apply is September 01, 2019.

You model the micro grid in the range 2 - 500 kHz and higher. An in depth knowledge of transmission lines, measurement techniques and power electronics is necessary to accomplish this task.
You write scientific publications and contribute to project reporting.
You supervise bachelor and MSc students during projects and practical courses related to your own research.
- Master of Science in Electromechanical Engineering (subject Electrical power engineering), Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or Applied Physics – Master of Science in Engineering technology - Electronic Engineering or Electrical Engineering
You are highly motivated, self-critical, you work with rigor and attention for detail, and you work accurately
A good knowledge of Matlab and Latex is an asset
You have a strong interest in power quality, emc and renewable energy.
You combine being an active team player with a strong sense of autonomy and responsibility.
You have good communication and writing skills and have an excellent knowledge of written and spoken English

Candidates are first screened based on the application. Those who qualify, will be invited to a selection interview on September 4th in the afternoon. For foreign applicants, an interview by Skype will be arranged. We offer you a PhD scholarship as a contractual recruitment of 2 years with another 2 years after positive evaluation. During the first period, you will also apply (when eligible, and in collaboration with your promoters) for additional scholarship funding. Your appointment will start by 01/10/2019 at the earliest. The aim is to obtain a doctoral degree by the end of September 2023. You will receive a PhD scholarship according to the general conditions at Ghent University. The tax free scholarship includes full social security coverage.
