Student Experience Manager Law or Postgraduate Business

Open University has an opening PhD position. Applicants should apply before August 22, 2019.

The Open University is the world's leading distance learning institution. The Faculty of Business and Law is currently expanding its programmes and is seeking to recruit two Student Experience Managers (SEM), who will make a significant contribution to the experience of students within the Faculty.

The SEM role is diverse and challenging - making a key contribution to operational delivery alongside the academic development of curriculum. The wide-ranging nature of the role will involve the selection, induction and ongoing management and development of Associate Lecturers (ALs) including the monitoring of performance, advice and support to students, the design and development of targeted learner and learning interventions to students as well as contributions to module/programme teaching and learning design. SEMs work with teams across the University.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for working on the development and implementation of robust support systems for students enrolling on several Law or postgraduate business modules offered by the Faculty. They will be responsible for the recruitment and development of ALs. The SEM provides a significant contribution as a member of module teams to develop and deliver new modules. They also work collaboratively with modules teams, delivering programme briefings, staff development events and other associated activities. It is expected that the successful candidate will have the flexibility to undertake other duties within the Student Experience Team if needed, across a range of faculty programmes

You will need a relevant qualification in the law of England and Wales (law post) and at Masters level or equivalent for both posts; a successful record of managing people; an understanding and experience of the pedagogy underpinning distance teaching and learning; demonstrable experience of using technologies to support online learners; the ability to be flexible, resilient and a team player; and to be computer literate. Experience of teaching business or law is essential.
