PhD Scholarships in Biomedical Research at The University of Queensland

A PhD scholarship in developmental biology is available at The University of Queensland. This position is available for three years. Applicants should apply before August 07, 2019.

The School of Biomedical Sciences at The University of Queensland is an acknowledged leader in biomedical sciences in Australia. Our University is typically placed around 30 in the world's top 100 for biomedicine, according to The Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

Our School's research strengths include cell and developmental biology; cell physiology; functional anatomy; molecular pharmacology; and neuroscience. Our interests encompass animal behaviour; the biology of disease; drug development; marine science; neural regeneration; neuropathology; and pedagogical studies.

The purpose of the PhD Scholarship is to develop an understanding of the biopharmaceutical behaviour of nanomedicines after inhaled administration and their safety in the lungs over repeated dosing. The overall goal of this project is to fill these gaps in knowledge using a range of commonly explored nanomaterials.

The successful appointees will be provided with a School-sponsored PhD scholarship, including stipend support commensurable with current Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) rates.

Applicants should possess an Hons or Masters in synthetic organic chemistry, specialising in polymer synthesis and nanomaterial formulation with a strong knowledge of pharmacokinetics/ pharmacology is preferred. You will have a passion for biomedical research and a strong interest in persuing a research career. In addition you will have strong general research skills and the ability to think critically, independently and to think outside of the box. Good writing and communication skills are a must.

The 2019 Research Training Program (RTP) living allowance stipend rate is AUD$27,596 per annum (indexed annually), which is tax-free for three years with two possible extensions of up to 6 months each in approved circumstances (conditions apply).Click here further information on this scholarship.
