Research Fellow in Multi-phase Modelling at Monash University

A new postdoctoral researcher position in mathematics is available at Monash University. Citizens of any country are eligible to apply before the deadline: July 26, 2019.

Everyone needs a platform to launch a satisfying career. At Monash, we give you the space and support to take your career in all kinds of exciting new directions. You'll have access to quality research, infrastructure and learning facilities, opportunities to collaborate internationally, as well as the grants you'll need to publish your work. We're a university full of energetic and enthusiastic minds, driven to challenge what's expected, expand what we know, and learn from other inspiring, empowering thinkers.

An outstanding opportunity exists for a curious and dedicatedResearch Fellow to join one of Australia's best universities and most sought after employers, in the world-class Faculty of Engineering, working on a fascinating project.

The Research Hub for Computational Particle Technology aims to develop and apply advanced theories and mathematical models to design and optimise particulate and multiphase processes that are widely used in the minerals and metallurgical industries. This will be achieved through detailed analysis of the fundamentals governing the fluid flow, heat and mass transfer at different time and length scales, facilitated by various novel research techniques. Research outcomes including theories, computer models and simulation techniques, as well as well-trained young researchers, will generate a significant impact across a range of industries of vital importance to Australia’s economic and technological future.

The successful candidate will ideally hold a doctoral qualification in Chemical Engineering/Process Engineering/Mineral Processing, coupled with strong experience in GPU modelling, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Discrete Element Method (DEM) and CFD-DEM coupling model. The incumbent will join the Hub to contribute toward the development of advanced computational particle technology with a strong focus on modelling and optimising complex particulate and multiphase processes in the mineral and metallurgical industries.

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

The incumbent will be required to work in China for designated periods of time.

At Monash University, we are committed to being a Child Safe organisation. Some positions at the University will require the incumbent to hold a valid Working with Children Check.

Your application must address the selection criteria. Please refer to “How to apply for Monash Jobs”.
