Research Assistant at University of Cambridge

A new opening postdoctoral position in condensed matter physics is available at University of Cambridge, UK. The initial contract for this position is 18 months. Applicants should apply before July 31, 2019.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 18 months in the first instance.

Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research position to be directed by Dr Jason Robinson. The position is available from 1st September 2019 for 18 months.

We are looking for a skilled theoretical condensed matter physicist to join our EPSRC Programme Grant “Superspin” to work on projects relating to modelling out-of-equilibrium phenomena in superconductor/ferromagnet devices using nonequilibrium Green’s function techniques and other theoretical tools. The research will involve closely collaborating with experimental partners on the programme and providing theory support in addition to developing new theory.

Applicants should have (or expect shortly to get) a Ph.D. in a relevant subject and a strong background in quasiclassical theory applied to superconductivity and ferromagnetism. A detailed understanding of spintronics and superconductivity and a strong background in quasiclassical theory would be desirable.
