Postdoctoral Position in Software Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology

Applicants are invited to apply for a postdoctoral researcher position in computer science at Chalmers University of Technology. Successful candidate will have funding to work and study for three years in Sweden. Applications are invited up to September 15, 2019.

Information about the project

The automotive future is getting electrified, autonomous, connected and with frequent application updates. With these trends, functions such as automated driving, Car-2-X, software updates over the air, or vehicles as part of Internet of Things (IoT), become possible, but raising completely new requirements to the electrical and electronic architecture – including the software architecture. These new use cases or functions come with huge demands to the platform in terms of computation, storage and analytics of big amount of data they collect. Moreover, with the need for the user to be able to communicate with the outside world, there is a need for the on-board platform to be able to communicate with off board functionalities in a seamless and transparent manner. The TrAF-Cloud project aims at providing an architectural basis (addressing system and software-level) to enable commercial vehicles to efficiently and effectively integrate cloud services, including future third-party services. Amongst others, this project will be performed in close collaboration with Volvo Trucks (VGTT).

Information about the division and department

The project runs in the Software Engineering Division, of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, which is a joint department at Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Gothenburg, with activities on two campuses in the city of Gothenburg. The department has around 270 employees from over 30 countries. Our research has a wide span, from theoretical foundations to applied systems development. We provide high quality education at Bachelor’s, Master’s and graduate levels, offering over 120 courses each year. We also have extensive national and international collaborations with academia, industry and society.

The details of the departmental research activities may be found at
