Postdoc Position in Palliative and End of Life Care

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral researcher position in public health to join University of Cambridge. This position is closed on July 31, 2019.

1) An East of England regional PEoLC collaboration, led by Dr Stephen Barclay in Cambridge and Dr Morag Farquhar in University of East Anglia

2) A national PEoLC collaboration across England, led by Dr Barclay and Prof Higginson at the Cicely Saunders Institute, London

The post-holder will be a key member of the Palliative and End of Life Care Group of the University of Cambridge Primary Care Unit, http://www.phpc.cam.ac.uk/pcu/research/research-groups/end-of-life-care/ a flourishing multidisciplinary research group based in the Institute of Public Health, on the Addenbrooke’s Biomedical Campus in Cambridge.

We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic colleague to work with Dr Barclay and colleagues on this new initiative. We are looking for someone with: a track-record of research in Palliative and End of Life Care or related areas; a strong understanding of the current landscape of UK PEoLC, Primary Care and health and social care services for people approaching the end of their lives; an understanding of the challenges and opportunities of undertaking research in PEoLC with patients, family members and their health and social care professionals. The post-holder will have a PhD in a relevant discipline or an equivalent level of professional qualifications and experience. They will be skilled in working collaboratively as part of a team, communicating with colleagues in multi-disciplinary groups, presenting research in academic, professional presentations and writing journal papers and grant proposals. This post will also require an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS).

The post will commence on 1 October 2019 and the funds for this post are available until 30 September 2024.

While the post is advertised as full-time we welcome applications from individuals who wish to be considered for part-time working (at least 60% FTE).

The post will be based in the Primary Care Unit, Cambridge Institute of Public Health, University Forvie Site, Robinson Way, Cambridge Biomedical Campus, Cambridge CB2 0SR (approx. 2 miles south of city centre)
