Postdoc Position Fragment-based Approaches to Targeting Enzymes From Mycobacterium Abscessus

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in medicinal chemistry to join University of Cambridge. The deadline to apply is July 18, 2019.

Applications are invited from post-doctoral chemists to work with Professor Chris Abell and Dr Anthony Coyne in the Department of Chemistry. We are looking for a postdoctoral research associate to work on a multidisciplinary project funded by the Fondation Botnar to use fragment-based approaches to develop potent inhibitors that target enzymes from Mycobacterium abscessus. This is a collaborative project between Professor Andres Floto (Department of Medicine) and Professor Sir Tom Blundell (Department of Biochemistry. The successful candidate will contribute to the design and synthesis molecules that may be potent inhibitors of enzymes from Mycobacterium abscessus.

Applicants must have, or be about to obtain, a PhD in synthetic organic or medicinal chemistry. They should have a proven track record exemplified by academic publications. Knowledge of medicinal, biological and biophysical chemistry with relevant post-doctoral experience would be advantageous. Applicants will be expected to work closely and interactively with colleagues in different disciplines, to have excellent communication skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

The position is available from August 2019 until the 31st August 2020.
