Postdoctoral Positions in Automatic Control at Lund University

Lund University is delighted to offer a postdoctoral researcher position in mathematics. This position is available for three years in the first instance. All candidates regardless of citizenship are eligible to apply before June 09, 2019.

LTH forms the Faculty of Engineering at Lund University, with approximately 9 000 students. The research carried out at LTH is of a high international standard and we are continuously developing our teaching methods and adapting our courses to current needs.

The project, Scalable Control of Interconnected Systems, is funded by an ERC Advanced Grant, a prestigious international grant aimed to give long term support for ground breaking research. The grant covers two postdocs and three PhD students with complementing competences. We expect one postdoc to more mathematically oriented, with competence in computational methods for systems and control, while the other has a strong background in control for energy networks. Also other types of expertise relevant for control of large-scale systems will be valuable.

Work duties

The main duty is to conduct research within the ERC project. Another assignment is to contribute to the general scientific discussion at the department and to teaching of PhD courses. The position also includes the opportunity for three weeks of training in higher education teaching and learning.

Qualification requirements

Appointment to a post-doctoral position requires that the applicant has a PhD, or an international degree deemed equivalent to a PhD, within the subject of the position, completed no more than three years before the last date for applications. Special circumstances might in extraordinary cases be applicable. The working languages are English and Swedish. Excellent skills in both spoken and written English is a requirement for the position. Interest in learning Swedish during the employment in Lund is desirable.

Eligibility

This is an qualifying appointment focused primarily on research. The position is intended as an initial step in the academic career and the assessment of the applicants will primarily be based on their scientific merits and potential as researchers. The basis of assessment is the ability to develop and implement research of good quality and teaching ability. Particular emphasis will be given to academic skills within the subject area.

We are looking for a person who is flexible and open, willing to cooperate and contribute to the overall working climate. Other basis of assessment are driving force and independence as well as ability to make new connections, communicate and cooperate with colleagues within and outside academia.

Conditions

The position is a 2 year full time post doctoral position. The position is limited in time based on an agreement between the parties at the labor market (trade unions and employer’s organisation).
