The internationally esteemed Faculty of Educational Sciences at the University of Helsinki is Finland's most diverse unit of research and teaching in educational sciences and teacher education. The aim of the Faculty's research and teaching is to optimally realise the cultural and social potential of people for the benefit of individuals and humanity.

Would you like to work as a doctoral student in the Studera starkt project? The Studera starkt project invites applications for the position of DOCTORAL STUDENT for the term of 15 August 2019-30 July 2021.

The Studera starkt research project contributes to the wellbeing and resources of general upper secondary students living in areas of Finland with a large number of Swedish speakers. The project is a collaboration between the Folkhlsan Research Centre and the Faculty of Educational Sciences, University of Helsinki, and funded by the Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland. The duties of the doctoral student will include project work, doctoral studies and dissertation work. The doctoral student will also provide teaching and complete other tasks.

We expect you to

o Be interested in positive education, psychology, wellbeing and general upper secondary education o Hold a master's degree in education, psychology, social psychology or a related field o Have excellent oral and written skills in Swedish and good academic writing skills in English o Have good IT skills and statistical data processing skills (Word, Excel, SPSS or similar software) o Have good organisational, planning and time management skills o Find it easy to communicate with, for example, principals, teachers and general upper secondary students o Submit your application for the right to pursue doctoral studies at the Faculty of Educational Sciences, University of Helsinki, in September 2019. Knowledge of, or experience in, positive psychology, general upper secondary education, and the statistical processing and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data will be considered an asset.

The applicant selected on the basis of his or her expression of interest and interview is expected to submit an application for the right to pursue doctoral studies at the University of Helsinki in September 2019.

The monthly salary will be 2,100- 2,400, depending on the appointee's experience and scholarly qualifications. A trial period of six months will be applied.
