Research Fellow Biochemistry and Molecular Biology

A new postdoctoral associate position in molecular biology is available at Monash University. The deadline for applying is April 17, 2019.

Everyone needs a platform to launch a satisfying career. At Monash, we give you the space and support to take your career in all kinds of exciting new directions. You'll have access to quality research, infrastructure and learning facilities, opportunities to collaborate internationally, as well as the grants you'll need to publish your work. We're a university full of energetic and enthusiastic minds, driven to challenge what's expected, expand what we know, and learn from other inspiring, empowering thinkers.

An excellent opportunity exists for a full-time Research Fellow to join an innovative research program within the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

Specifically, the Laboratory Head is looking for a motivated and talented candidate to perform a range of significant and complex technical activities that play a critical role in supporting research objectives. The focus of the research is to better understand how proteins in antiviral immunity (particularly the RIG-I-like receptor signalling cascade) are regulated by either viral/bacterial proteins or post-translational modifications (eg. ubiquitination). Our aim is to disseminate this knowledge, or to exploit it to pursue translational research geared towards finding ways to design novel therapeutics for infectious disease, inflammation and cancer.

The successful candidate will possess outstanding organisational and record keeping skills, high quality written and oral communication skills and the ability to work with independence and as part of a team. We are looking for a candidate who is capable of generating high-quality, reproducible data for publications and presentations. You must be able to set up equipment, contribute to design and conduct and troubleshoot experiments with a level of independence.

This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

At Monash University, we are committed to being a Child Safe organisation. Some positions at the University will require the incumbent to hold a valid Working with Children Check.
