PhD Position on Nanophotonic Devices for Integrated Photonics

Technical University of Denmark is pleased to invite applicants to apply for a new opening PhD position in signal processing. Applications are invited up to April 26, 2019.

The research center NATEC (NAnophotonics for TErabit Communications) is exploring the physics of novel nanophotonic devices and their applications within integrated photonics and optical communications. In particular, novel lasers and modulators based on Fano resonances in a nano-cavity are showing extremely rich physics and promising applications with optical signal processing. The PhD project will focus on experimental investigations of active Fano devices based on photonic crystal structures and low-dimensional active semiconductor materials. This is a novel and promising research topic, leaving ample opportunity for the Ph.D. student to significantly push the state-of-the-art of research in the field.

The Ph.D. project will be carried out in close collaboration between the High Speed Optical Communications group (HSOC) and the Quantum and Laser Photonics group, both at the Department of Photonic Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark. Both groups are at the very forefront of international research in their respective fields and will provide a strong platform for the successful execution of the project. There is access to state-of-the-art characterization and fabrication facilities. The department is highly international and encourages collaborative work and an informal working environment.
