University of Cambridge is delighted to offer a lecturer position. Candidates are welcome before March 20, 2019.

The French Section at the University of Cambridge is seeking to appoint a University Lecturer in Medieval French, specialising in the literature of the period. Research in the area of Medieval French Literature in Cambridge has consistently been at the forefront of the field both nationally and internationally and it is expected that the appointee will continue this tradition of outstanding excellence. Preference may be given to candidates who can also demonstrate research cross-over potential into the period of early modern French.

Appointees will be expected to engage in high-level research and to seek opportunities to win external funding for that research and to publish in their specialist field. The post-holder will be required to collaborate with colleagues both in Cambridge (across different language areas of the Faculty and within MML’s sister Faculties) and elsewhere to develop successful funding applications. They will also be expected to teach and examine undergraduates, and to supervise and examine MPhil and PhD postgraduate work. It is essential that the appointee has a native or near native level of French.

The successful candidate will hold the lectureship in conjunction with a Fellowship at Murray Edwards College according to the terms of the Trinity Scheme for Joint Lectureships.

The successful candidate will have, or be expected to develop, their own independent research portfolio of world-class research commensurate with the international reputation of the University in the area of Medieval French.

Candidates are welcome to seek more information beyond the Further Particulars by contacting Dr Ian James irj20@cam.ac.uk. On questions of procedure, contact Ruth Farley, HR Administrator (MMLPersonnel@admin.cam.ac.uk)
