Research Fellows in Vehicle Dynamics Control at University of Surrey

University of Surrey is pleased to invite applicants to apply for a new opening postdoctoral fellowship position in mechanical engineering. Applications should be submitted as soon as possible.

Applications are invited for two postdoctoral research positions, with a 15-month duration starting from 1stApril 2019 (or soon thereafter if a later start is required by the successful applicants), to develop advanced controllers and state estimators for electric vehicles with multiple motors.

The posts are part of an H2020 project (Sys2Wheel) that aims to develop new control systems and state estimatorsfor fully electric vehicles with individually controlled motors. A budget for travel and other expenses will be provided, and there will be several opportunities to attend related conferences. The research will be carried out with collaborators of several industrial and academic institutions. The project outcomes will be evaluated on state-of-the-art vehicle demonstrators.

The successful candidates must have a strong background in control theory and should be a holder of a Ph. D. degree in one of the areas of control systems engineering, automotive engineering, mechanical engineering or electrical engineering.

The appointee will join Surrey's Centre for Automotive Engineering of the Mechanical Engineering Sciences Department, which has research interests in a wide range of topics, including active vehicle dynamics, tyre dynamics, electric powertrains, vehicle aerodynamics and novel transmission systems for electric and hybrid electric vehicles.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to contact Dr Ahu Ece HartaviKarci (tel: +44 (0)1483 682895, email for further information.
