Research Assistant at University of Cambridge

University of Cambridge is pleased to invite applicants to apply for a new opening postdoctoral researcher position in cognitive science. The deadline to apply is February 24, 2019.

We are seeking a Research Assistant to join the Computational Cognition Group led by Dr Paul Bays at the University of Cambridge. The successful candidate will work as part of a team of researchers investigating the cognitive and neural mechanisms responsible for perceiving and remembering visual objects, and for directing visual attention and gaze.

The appointee’s main role will be to implement and conduct experiments testing the perception and memory of volunteer participants, using primarily visual psychophysical and eye-tracking techniques. The role holder will also be expected and encouraged to contribute to experimental design, data analysis, presentation of results in the form of talks and posters, and preparation of papers for peer-reviewed publication. The post-holder will additionally contribute to organization and maintenance of equipment and the lab environment.

Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s or equivalent first degree in neuroscience, cognitive science, experimental psychology or other relevant subject. Experience in coding (particularly with MATLAB or R) is desirable, as is previous lab experience.

The position is available immediately.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 30 November 2020 in the first instance.
