A new postdoctoral researcher position in condensed matter physics is available at University of Cambridge. The funding allows successful candidate to work for 2 years. The deadline for applying is March 31, 2019.

We are looking for an experimental quantum-optics/cold-atoms expert with (or being close to complete) a PhD in physics or a related area. Specific experience with ultracold atoms, optical lattices or other synthetic many-body systems is advantageous. Knowledge of the theory of many-body physics and condensed matter physics is highly desirable, experience in numerical modelling and data analysis is helpful.
You will design and carry out experimental investigations together with a team of PhD students and undergraduates. In addition, you will communicate research findings through publications, talks, or lectures, contribute to the infrastructure of the research group, and assist with the training of students.
For candidates holding a PhD (or equivalent experience) at the actual starting date, appointment will be at research associate level (Grade 7, 32,236 – 39,609). Applicants that have submitted but not yet received their PhD will initially be appointed as research assistants (Grade 5, 26,243 – 30,395) and automatically promoted to research associate when the PhD is awarded.
While the position is available immediately, the anticipated starting date is in summer and can be negotiated.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 2 years in the first instance.
