Postdoc Position in Wireless Communications and Signal Processing

Applicants are invited to apply for a postdoctoral associate position in wireless communication at Imperial College London, UK. The deadline to apply is March 12, 2019.

Applications are invited for a Research Associate position in the Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department at Imperial College London. The research is conducted as part of a project on rate-splitting-based robust transmission funded by EPSRC.

In the past few years, rate-splitting (RS) has emerged as a powerful strategy to boost the spectral and energy efficiencies, the reliability and the robustness of multi-user multi-antenna wireless networks over conventional strategies in a wide range of applications and scenarios. This project aims at designing, optimising and demonstrating the suitability and superiority of an RS-based multi-user multi-antenna transmission strategy over conventional approaches currently envisioned in 5G.

The duties involve carrying out research programmes in rate-splitting-based robust transmission, undertaking project management, collaborating with sponsors and/or supervising multi-disciplinary teams. In addition, the Research Associate will be expected to submit publications to refereed journals and to attract external research funding.

The successful applicant should hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) in Wireless Communications, Communication Theory and/or Signal Processing for Communications and have a significant publication track record. In addition, you should demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience in several areas among wireless communication theory, communication theory, signal processing, information theory, MIMO signal processing, interference management and optimisation. Past exposure to rate-splitting and link/system-level simulations is desired. Good written and oral communication skills in English are essential.

Candidates who have not yet been awarded their PhD will initially be appointed at the Research Assistant level within the salary range 33,380 – 35,061 per annum.

Prospective candidates may contact Dr Bruno Clerckx,, for further details.
