Postdoc Position in Biomedical Image Analysis at Imperial College London

Imperial College London, UK is inviting excellent candidates to apply for a postdoctoral researcher position in computer science. Potential candidates should apply before March 13, 2019.

We are seeking to appoint a Research Associate for a project on innovative healthcare engineering jointly funded by the Wellcome Trust and EPSRC. The aim of the project is to advance ultrasound imaging technology to improve the detection of birth defects in unborn babies. This will entail the development of a fully automated and computer-guided ultrasound system, allowing midwives to acquire 3D images of the whole baby with much greater detail than is currently possible. A key aspect of the project is the development of intelligent algorithms that will be able to automatically analyse the images acquired. These techniques should substantially improve detection rates of congenital abnormalities. The projects will combine two emerging paradigms in computer and imaging science to address the challenge of identifying fetal abnormalities: Machine learning techniques and very large datasets.

You will be part of the Biomedical Image Analysis Group based at the South Kensington campus. The mission of the group is to develop novel, computational techniques for the analysis of biomedical images. For further information on the group see: The Group is part of the Department of Computing which is a leading department of Computer Science among UK Universities.

*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range 33,380 – 35,061 per annum.
