An opportunity has arisen for a Research Associate to work on quantum metabolism in anaerobic transformation to methane for sustainable wastewater treatment.

This position is offered as part of a portfolio of cutting-edge research on the quantum-induced metabolism using a conductive material, i.e., granular activated carbon (GAC), in anaerobic transformation for methane formation from sewage.

The project is an initial work to advance the pathway of direct interspecies electron transfer (DIET) in anaerobic fluidized-bed bioreactor (AFB) with GAC led by Dr. Po-Heng (Henry) Lee at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

This is a fixed term appointment for up to one year.

You will be responsible for development of novel types of anaerobic biological system for the improvement of lignocellulosic biomass treatment.

Duties will include the design and operation of novel anaerobic digestion (AD) systems, such as battery electrode AD system, GAC immobilized AD system, or micro-aerobic AD systems.

You will also be expected to submit publications to refereed journals based on this work, and to attract external research funding.

You must have a PhD (or equivalent) in Environmental Engineering or a closely related discipline.
