Outstanding international students are invited to apply for a PhD scholarship in mathematics at ETH Zurich. The funding allows successful candidate to work for 4 years. Applications should be submitted as soon as possible.

The PhD student will have access to and acquire expertise on state-of-the art modelling & optimization tools, including process simulation (e.g. Aspen Plus, Aspen-HYSYS and gPROMS); life cycle assessment and related software packages (e.g. SimaPro, Ecoinvent); algebraic modelling systems (i.e. GAMS, Matlab), optimization solvers (e.g. CPLEX, DICOPT, SBB) and machine learning algorithms (e.g. artificial neural networks, support vector machine, etc.). The PhD project is embedded into a larger, interdisciplinary research effort with international collaborations.
Successful candidatesare highly motivated and should hold an MSc degree (or equivalent) in Engineering (preferably, in Chemical Engineering), Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, or similar. Good communication skills in English (written and spoken) and the ability to work in a larger team are essential. Employment will be according to ETHZ regulations (100% employment; funding secured for 4 years). The project will start as soon as possible.
