Epsrc PhD Training Partnership PhD in Physics and Astronomy

Cardiff University is pleased to invite applicants to apply for a PhD position in astronomy. Successful candidate will have funding to work and study for three years in UK. Applications are invited up to March 01, 2019.

Additional funding is available over the course of the programme and will cover costs such as research consumables, training, conferences and travel. Applicants with a Lower Second Class degree will be considered if they also have a master's degree. Applicants with a minimum Upper Second Class degree and significant relevant non-academic experience are encouraged to apply. The Doctoral Training Partnership welcomes applications from both UK and EU applicants; however, as a consequence of the EU referendum result, final award decisions will depend on the outcomes of the UK/EU negotiations. Full awards (fees plus maintenance stipend) are open to UK Nationals and EU students who can satisfy UK residency requirements. To be eligible for the full award, EU Nationals must have been in the UK for at least three years prior to the start of the course for which they are seeking funding, including for the purposes of full-time education. A small number of awards may also be made available to EU Nationals who do not meet the above residency requirement, provided that they have been ordinarily resident in the EU for at least three years prior to the start of their proposed programme of study.

Applicants should submit an application for postgraduate study via the Cardiff University Online Application Service. Consideration is automatic upon application for admission to the Doctor of Philosophy in Physics and Astronomy with a October 2019 start date. In the research proposal section of your application, please specify the project title and supervisors of this project and copy the project description in the text box provided.
