Research Opening in Physical and Mathematical Sciences

Nanyang Technological University has an opening postdoctoral researcher position in nanotechnology. This position is available for 6 months. Applications will be evaluated on a continuous basis.

The Weber group is looking for a project officer, with strong experimental skill and interest in 2D and topological materials’ synthesis, and their investigation in scanning probe microscopy/spectroscopy at low temperature (4.2K). The Weber group investigates novel 2D and topological materials to harness their properties for future low-power electronics and quantum information processing applications. Our group is embedded in a strongly collaborative network, bothlocally at NTU (e.g. with the Centre for High Resolution Instruments for Science) andinternationally (with the Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence for Future Low Energy Electronics Technologies (FLEET)).

The positioncomes with an attractive remuneration and benefit package, dependingon experience. The duration of the contract is 6 months initiallywith option for renewal, based on performance.

Weber recently moved to Nanyang Technological University as Singapore National Research Foundation (NRF) Fellow and Nanyang Assistant Professor (NAP). At NTU, he has established a state-of-the-art low-temperature scanning probe laboratory for the atomic-scale nanostructuring of 2D materials surfaces for their application in quantum information processing. Weber’s laboratories and facilities will include a low-temperature (T=4.5K) scanning probe microscope with capability forin-situcrystal growth using molecular beam epitaxy (MBE), and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy.

The PI has more than ten years of experience in the atomic-scale nanostructuring of matter for applications in quantum information processing. He obtained his PhD from the Centre for Quantum Computation and Communication Technology at The University of New South Wales (UNSW) in Sydney, and worked as an Australian Research Council DECRA fellow at the Centre for Atomically Thin Materials (MCATM) at Monash University in Melbourne, where he remains an Associate Investigator within the Centre for Future Low Energy Electronics Technologies (FLEET).

Weber has demonstrated research excellence with several high-impact publications (incl. Science, Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Communications, Physical Review Letters, Nano Letters, ), invited conference presentations, as well as patents.

Interested applicants, please submit the full CV, explaining yourinterest in the position, a full curriculum vitae that includes a list of publications, as well as theirbroader research interests.Applicant should also provide contact information the names and contacts (including email addresses)of three referees who can comment on the quality of theirpast research as well astheirstrengths and weaknesses, all relevant academic certificates and transcripts and email toProf Bent Weberat .
