Research in the lab will focus on the role for sleep circuitry in learning and memory. The postdoctoral candidate should have a good background in neuroscience and interest in applying systems neuroscience approaches to study complex circuits. With access to state-of-the-art circuit mapping and calcium imaging techniques, the fellow will identify hypothalamic sleep and motivational circuits and link them with learning and memory in higher-order brain regions. The emphasis for this postdoctoral project will be to generate high-quality publications. Recent graduates with a strong background in neuroanatomy, circuit mapping (optogenetics, pharmacogenetics), calcium imaging (two-photon imaging, photometry), coding (MATLAB, Python) and/or experience in handling mice are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in the fields of sleep, feeding, or cortical plasticity. Preference will be given to US citizens or applicants with existing funding, all applicant will be considered. Evidence of productivity with publications in significant journals is required.
