University of Michigan is delighted to offer a postdoctoral associate position in physiology. Applications will be evaluated on a continuous basis.

The Molecular and Behavioral Neuroscience Institute and the Department of Molecular and Integrative Physiology is currently recruiting for a Postdoctoral Fellow to work in a systems neuroscience laboratory. Research in the lab will focus on the role for sleep circuitry in learning and memory. The postdoctoral candidate should have a good background in neuroscience and interest in applying systems neuroscience approaches to study complex circuits. With access to state-of-the-art circuit mapping and calcium imaging techniques, the fellow will identify hypothalamic sleep and motivational circuits and link them with learning and memory in higher-order brain regions. The emphasis for this postdoctoral project will be to generate high-quality publications. Recent graduates with a strong background in neuroanatomy, circuit mapping (optogenetics, pharmacogenetics), calcium imaging (two-photon imaging, photometry), coding (MATLAB, Python) and/or experience in handling mice are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in the fields of sleep, feeding, or cortical plasticity. Preference will be given to US citizens or applicants with existing funding, all applicant will be considered. Evidence of productivity with publications in significant journals is required.
Requires a PhD degree in neuroscience or a related field. Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and able to work as part of a team. Must be comfortable working with mice. Evidence of productivity with publications in significant journals is required.
Experience with systems and behavioral neuroscience research, including with specific techniques: optogenetics, calcium imaging, and MATLAB/Python coding.
TheUniversityof Michigan conducts background checks on all job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background checks. Background checks will be performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
The mission of the University of Michigan is to serve the people of Michigan and the world through preeminence in creating, communicating, preserving and applying knowledge, art, and academic values, and in developing leaders and citizens who will challenge the present and enrich the future.
