Research Assistant in Biosensors and Micro-systems

Imperial College London is pleased to invite applicants to apply for a postdoctoral position in computer science. Applicants should apply before February 20, 2019.

Applicants are invited to apply fora new vacancy at either Research Assistant or Research Associate level for biosensors and Micro-systems. The Hamlyn Centre is dedicated to developing safe, effective and accessible imaging, sensing and robotics technologies that can reshape the future of healthcare. Focusing on technological innovation but with a strong emphasis on clinical translation and direct patient benefit with a global impact, the centre is at the forefront of research in imaging, sensing and robotics for addressing global health challenges associated with demographic, environment, social and economic changes.

The position is part of the Centre's programme on the development of the future generation of micro-robotics for surgery by anticipating the paradigm shift brought forward by precision medicine - the need for intervention at microscopic scales to ensure effective management of early malignancies and navigation with smart actuation through in situ, in vivo cellular level imaging and sensing. It harnesses different strands of engineering and clinical developments in micro-robotics for precision surgery and to establish platform technologies with broad values across different surgical specialties.

Prior experience in system integration and practical clinical/in vivo deployment would be an advantage.

For a Research Assistant level position, you must have a Masters degree (or equivalent) in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry/Biochemistry, or a related discipline. For a Research Associate position you must have a PhD degree (or equivalent) in related disciplines. You will need to have considerable experience in interdisciplinary research and managing large integrated development projects.

Applicants with strong experience and a proven track record in one or more of the above research areas are encouraged to apply. A high level of analytical and computing skills is required. Preference will be given to applicants with a proven research record and publications in relevant areas. Applicants must be fluent in English. The positions are based at the South Kensington campus.
