Research Assistant at University of Cambridge

University of Cambridge, UK is offering postdoctoral researcher position in biochemistry. The funding allows successful candidate to work for 18 months. Applicants should apply before February 10, 2019.

A position for a research assistant has arisen in the lab of Professor Gerard Evan, University of Cambridge, Department of Biochemistry, Cambridge (http://www.bioc.cam.ac.uk/uto/evan) to further our ongoing studies on the development and maintenance of lung cancer. The research seeks to determine whether lung cancer is driven and maintained by the activation of common and obligate regenerative programmes in the lung epithelium and its attendant stroma elicited by oncogenic mutations. Our work suggests that deregulated expression of the Myc protein, a highly pleiotropic “master” switch, modulates a wide variety of mechanistically diverse processes. We have established models in which expression and/or activity of Myc can be rapidly and reversibly switched in the lung and we now seek a Research Assistant to continue our studies investigating the possibility that inhibition of Myc-specific downstream targets elicits tumour regression.

Applicants should have a BSc or equivalent. A background in tumour biology and previous experience in molecular and cellular biology and in mouse models of tumourigenesis is desirable.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 18 months.

Informal enquiries can be made to tdl2@cam.ac.uk.

This appointment is subject to a security check. Whether an outcome is satisfactory will be determined by the University.

Enquiries about the online application process can be sent to the departmental HR team at personnel@bioc.cam.ac.uk.
