Imperial College London, UK is offering postdoctoral position in biotechnology. This fellowship is last for 18 months and posible to extend. Applicants should apply before February 17, 2019.

The remit of this Research Associate post is to assist in the development of tools and novel manufacturing technologies that will modernise vaccine manufacturing processes that were established in the last century, in order for these life-saving medicines to be available to all, irrespective of economic circumstance. Your role on the project will be developing mathematical models and implementing model-based analysis and optimization to improve all aspects of vaccine manufacturing, with a view to decreasing time to market and identify critical cost bottlenecks. You will be working with both academic and industrial partners involved in vaccine manufacturing and will be expected to explore and suggest ways in which operation strategies can be improved.
The successful candidate will have a first degree in Engineering and a PhD in the field of Process Systems Engineering. Knowledge of process systems with an emphasis on mathematical modeling and model-based design and operations optimization is essential. As is the ability to collect and manipulate operational data; and to produce clear written reports and presentations. You will also need to be familiar with modelling and optimisation tools (e.g. Matlab, gPROMS, Aspen). Knowledge of biotechnology/bioprocessing is a plus, but is not pre-emptive.
The post is available immediately. The appointment is for 18 months in the first instance, with the possibility of extension based on performance. The post is based in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London (South Kensington Campus).
