Postdoctoral Postdoc Position at University of Cambridge

Applicants are invited to apply for a postdoctoral position in molecular biology at University of Cambridge. The deadline to apply is February 11, 2019.

Fixed-term: From 1st March 2019 (or as soon as possible thereafter) for 20 months

Applications are invited for this postdoctoral position, funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) through an sLoLa consortium, on a project aiming to advance protein glycan coupling technology (PGCT) for the development of a new generation of vaccines.

The main focus of the research at Cambridge, led by Dr Andrew Grant, is to carry out detailed molecular biology to construct glycoconjugate assembling bacterial vaccine strains, and to support the evaluation of the immunogenicity and protective efficacy of candidate vaccines in chickens.

Applicants should have a PhD in Molecular Microbiology or a related discipline. Knowledge of, and experience in, the field of bacterial infectious disease research is essential. Expertise in molecular biology is required and knowledge and experience of immunoassays is highly desirable. The candidate must value teamwork and collaboration, have good administrative and interpersonal skills, and high computer literacy especially in relation to analysis of DNA sequences and the use of bioinformatics software.
