Postdoc Position or Fellow at Imperial College London

A new postdoc position in public health is available at Imperial College London. Applications are invited up to March 03, 2019.

We are seeking a Research Associate or Fellow to undertake statistical and simulation modelling work as part of an interdisciplinary team on a project about HIV prevention for young women in Zimbabwe. The post will be based in the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology in the School of Public Health at Imperial College London.

The project is concerned with understanding the barriers that young women face in accessing and benefitting fully from the HIV prevention services that are available and testing interventions that could overcome these barriers. We are working with an experienced field-team in Zimbabwe and epidemiologists, demographers, statisticians, social scientists, economists and modellers in London and Copenhagen.

- design and conduct analyses of longitudinal data in order to characterise the extentto which persons in Zimbabwe are currently accessing HIV treatment and prevention services

- Construct a mathematical model (building on earlier work in the group) of the HIV epidemic in Zimbabwe and parameterise it using data.

- Conduct further statistical analyses in order to parameterise the model

- use the model to estimate the impact and cost-effectiveness of proposed interventions- use the model and available data arising in the project to explore further questions related to the central objectives of the project.

All candidates must have a PhD or equivalent in one of the following areas: mathematical modelling, statistics, infectious disease epidemiology or related subject or a similar quantitative discipline. You must also be able to demonstrate experience working with epidemiological data sets using various sophisticated statistical techniques and experience in the development of mathematical simulation models.

For appointment to the post of Research Fellow, experience of the supervision of research of undergraduate/postgraduate students or postdoctoral staff, is essential.

This post is full time and fixed term until 31 July 2021 and will be based at the St Mary's Campus, Paddington. Imperial College is supportive of flexible working. The College is happy to discuss the possibility of implementing such arrangements for this post, with suitably qualified people, subject to operational requirements.
